FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Who is in the cast?

Cast List: Posted on Blend

Pairings for Casts: Posted on Blend (some will perform every show and some leads will perform in certain shows but all performers attend all shows)

Who is on the tech crew?

Technician List: Posted on Blend.

When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are typically Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays after school from 4:45-6:45 pm. As the show gets closer to production week, rehearsals may go later and Wednesdays added.

The best way for parents to keep up to date is to have their student check the student BAND app.

STC Boosters has our own BAND app where we share reminders and last minute updates as we receive them. Get the app and request to join!

What is "STC time"?

You know that amazing feeling when you're enjoying and making art with like-minded folks? And time just kind of fades away because you're doing something you really love? That's STC time. It's a polite way of saying that rehearsal times are not always strictly regimented. Parents who don't enjoy hanging out in the pick up line may prefer to have their kids text when they are ready to be picked up.

What is a Libretto?

A libretto is a copy of the full script with music. Librettos will be available for rent for $25. Named characters get priority on the available copies. Send in cash or a check made out to "James Bowie Starlight Theatre Company" and deliver it to Mr. Bazan. Once the libretto is returned, your check will be torn up or cash refunded.

What is the production fee and how do I pay it?

Each student who is part of the cast or crew is asked to pay a production fee to help with costume and production costs. The production fee for the musical is $75, which you can pay via MySchoolCentral.com or by writing a check to the "James Bowie Starlight Theatre Company" and delivering it to Mr. Bazan. Make sure to pay the "Starlight Theatre Musical Production" fee NOT COURSE Fee.

My child is "double cast." How will I know which days they perform?

Due to having so many talented performers, big shows like the musical often have multiple casts of named or lead performers. In other words, two students will play the same character, but perform in different shows while the ensemble and other characters will perform in all shows. See the "About" section on the ticket link for the casts performing each night!

What is a Spotlight Ad and how do I order one?

Musical-only Spotlight Ads, which are printed in the program for the musical, are personal ads that allow you to celebrate your child. You are welcome to design your own ad or have our Program Designer create one for you. If you already submitted a Spotlight Ad for other shows, the same Spotlight Ad will be used for musical. See the Spotlight Ad section of this website for purchasing information.

What is a Digital Shout-Out and how do I order one?

Digital Shout-Outs are slides that will play in theatre before the musical and in the lobby before and during performances. For more information, please visit our Digital Shout-Outs page

What are Show Meals? Do I need to sign my student up for Show Meals?

During weekday performance nights, the cast and crew performing do not have a chance to leave school for dinner, so the STC Booster Club brings dinner to them. Every student performing or participating in that day's show (cast, crew, house, or orchestra) will be provided dinner. There is no sign up needed. You can always send food if the student does not want to eat the meal that night. If a student is gluten free, please reach out to show meals coordinators & have your child tell the show meal volunteers that night.

Show Meals are one of STCBC’s largest expenses. Parents may choose to cover the cost of their student's meals for a production to help the booster club. If you would like to make a donation to cover the costs of your student’s meals, please visit our donations page.

Parents are also welcome to donate sides or desserts or help serve the students. Look under "Volunteer Opportunities" tab for specific volunteer needs.

What are work days and who has to be there?

Most Saturdays before the musical are work days, which provide extra time for building sets, making props, altering costumes and also rehearsing. Students are expected to attend work days. Some work days also need parents’ help. Check the website and BAND app each week to see if your help is requested. Different skills will be needed at different times. If you can sew, you can help with costumes. If you’re handy with tools, keep an eye out for work days when set building is the focus.  Even if neither of those things is your strength, there is always something for you to do, from organizing, to cleaning, to running errands.

What volunteer opportunities are there for parents?

It truly takes all of us to make the musical a success. In addition to work days, parent volunteers are needed to sell concessions and merch and to assist other fundraising booths during performances.

As the musical is one of the biggest STC shows of the year, the STC Booster Club has special MUSICAL volunteer opportunities. Some examples of musical volunteer opportunities from the past include photo backdrops, star notes (performer congratulatory notes),  flower bouquets, special candies, and raffle/surprise boxes. We'd love your help on one of our musical committees. Please reach out to the musical chair, Katy Jefferies (katyjefferies@yahoo.com) for more information.

Check back regularly under "Volunteer Opportunities" for specific volunteer needs/signups as the musical gets closer!

How do I buy tickets to the show?

Tickets link will be available on the Homepage and the Musical page when tickets are available for purchase! See the top of this page for the ticket link.

How do I buy a recording of the show?

Recordings of the musical will be available for purchase shortly after all performances have concluded (so that we know what casts were recorded). When available, records are available for order at Show Recordings - DVD or digital downloads available.

What is "strike"?

Strike is a required part of the production process when we restore the theater to it's original setup by deconstructing set pieces, taking down additional lighting, putting away props, sorting costumes for wash, and cleaning the theater and lobby spaces. The length of strike depends on the size of the production. For the musical, expect it to run about 1 to 1.5 hours. If a student cannot attend strike, they can take a load of laundry home to clean, fold, and return.

Should I become a member of the booster club?

You are not required to become a Booster Club member just because your child is part of the cast or crew of the musical, but you should consider it! We have a lot of fun and it is a great way to get to know other parents who are living with theatrical kids.  Memberships start at $50 and the funds go towards supporting all of the kids associated with the theatrical productions. Learn more about joining STC Boosters.

What do I do if I have more questions?

We are here to help! Email stcboosters@gmail.com and one of our veteran STC musical parents will respond to your message.
