STARS 2026 - THE ROYAL STARLIGHT BALL

STARS is an annual formal event consisting of a banquet and awards for students earning the required number of theatre hours to attend. 
STC officers choose the event theme and students mingle and socialize prior to the awards ceremony and presentation. STARS 2026 theme is - The Royal Starlight Ball! 

 

WHEN: May 23, 2026

WHERE: Bowie High School and Theatre

 

 

Thespians attend in formal dress, themed dress, or however they'd like (we encourage you to be creative and be yourself). Thespians are to be dropped off at the circle drive awning at the front of Bowie High School (not the theatre entrance) and in staggered arrivals:

5:00 - Freshman and Sophomore Arrival

5:15 - Junior Arrival

5:30 - Senior Arrival

Please arrive only during your designated time. The staggered arrival minimizes traffic congestion and allows our upper classmen to be celebrated by their peers.

 

STARS Activities

 

STARS incudes several photo opportunities with specialized themed backdrops. We also take grade level photos during the arrival windows above (so don't miss your class photo!). 

 

Heavy appetizers/light dinner are served as well as fun drinks to celebrate our amazing 2025-2026 theatre season!

 

Following "cocktail hour", thespians will move through a very decorated special hallway into the Bowie Theatre for a fun show, awards and honors!

 

The ceremony is divided into Act 1 and Act 2 with an intermission and includes performances, gag gifts for every member in attendance, thespian recognition and induction, letterman awards, company awards, scholarship awards, year in review slideshow or video, new officer announcements and induction, presidential address and the senior last dance! Its a celebration you won't want to miss!

 

Parents should expect this evening to run long with pickup after 11pm.

Can you volunteer for or donate to the STARS banquet? We need your help to make this event a success for all those attending. They look forward to this big event all year and we want to make it as special as possible. Donation and Volunteer links COMING SOON!

 

Parents will be needed to help with setup on Friday May 22nd which includes setting up and helping the students decorate the the lobby areas, fine arts hallway and the Betsy lobby.

 

On the day of the event, parent volunteers are needed to assist with:

  • Valet drivers (students who drive themselves still get to walk the red carpet and have their car parked for them)
  • "Bouncers" helping keep students in the proper event areas at the right times
  • Serving food and drinks
  • Clean up of some areas during the beginning of the ceremony
  • Clean up of all areas following the ceremony

Parents are welcome to come and watch the ceremony (parent seating is in the back of the theatre).
